WCAG 2.1 at level AA, checked while building rather than audited afterwards. This is a list used standing up, in an empty property, often one-handed and often on a bad connection, so several of these are practical rather than formal.

The palette is eight fixed colours. Every one of them was measured against the page background rather than estimated, and the figures are written into the top of the stylesheet:

• Body text on the page background: 14.09:1 — above AAA.
• "Only now" colour on the background: 4.76:1 — AA for body text.
• "Will keep" colour on the background: 5.13:1 — AA.
• "Walked" colour on the background: 4.86:1 — AA.
• "Noted" colour on the background: 4.68:1 — AA.
• Reversed — page background on each of those four: the same ratios, so a filled label is as readable as a hollow one.

Two of the eight do not reach 4.5:1, and the palette is fixed, so the design works around them instead of around the standard.

The secondary grey measures 4.42:1. That is below the threshold for normal-size text and above the 3:1 threshold for large text and for non-text parts of the interface, so it is used only at 24px and above, or at 19px and above in semibold, and for strokes that carry no text. Secondary copy at reading size is set in the full-strength ink and takes its lower rank from size, weight and spacing. That is why there is no light grey body text anywhere here.

The rule colour measures 1.30:1. It draws dividers, never text, and never acts as the only boundary of a control: every input, button and focus ring is drawn in the full-strength ink, at 14.09:1.

Every kind carries its name in words and its own glyph shape as well as its colour. A door, a socket and a tap are three different drawings, not three tints of the same one.

"Only now" and "Will keep" are written out on every row, not implied by a colour.

There is no red anywhere on this site, and no red-amber-green grading of anything.

The row of doors at the top fills one at a time. If your system asks for reduced motion, the row is simply drawn already part-filled — the same state, reached without movement — and no meaning is lost.

The ambient clips are replaced by their own first frames under reduced motion. No video element is created and nothing is downloaded.

Nothing on the site flashes, auto-scrolls or moves without being asked to.

Everything is reachable and operable by keyboard, in a sensible order, with a visible focus outline drawn in the full-strength ink at 2px with an offset.

There is a skip link to the main content as the first focusable thing on every page.

Every control that can be on or off reports its state, so a row that has been walked is announced as such rather than being distinguishable only by its fill.

Every interactive target is at least 48 by 48 pixels. The list is used with one hand, standing up, sometimes wearing gloves.

Headings run in order, landmarks are marked up, and every photograph has alt text describing what is in the frame. No photograph carries information that is not also in the text beside it.

The navigation, the questions and the policy pages work with JavaScript switched off — the disclosures are native HTML.

Once a list has loaded it keeps working with no connection at all: it is built in your browser, and where you have got to is kept on the device.

There is a plain-text version of every list, grouped by kind, and a print stylesheet that drops the images, sets black on white, keeps each kind on one page and puts an empty box beside every item.

The ambient clips have no captions because they contain no speech, no sound and no information. They are decorative and are marked as such.

Very long rows — a 40-item row of sockets in a large property — wrap rather than scroll, which makes for a tall page on a small screen. The plain-text version is the better way to read those.
